DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

As the scientists and technocrats opines, no knowledge particle is out of tentacle of computer science. Though 20th Century witnessed the beginning of the era of computer, but 21st century has witnessed, how the computer has invaded into all other branches of knowledge, may be it is science, arts, commerce, engineering or medical sciences.



The Computer Science and Information Technology Department was conceived in the year 2007 along with GIFT. The department has three high end servers and 400 terminals to cater the need of the institute. Computer science department of GIFT has started the movement of Robotics in the year 2008, and now it has become the part and parcel of the culture of GIFT. The Department has also taken several initiatives to bridge the gap between industry and academia by conducting several training and certification Programs, such as DB2, RAD, Oracle, .NET, to name a few. The department has also its own software development centre, which has significantly contributed for the development of CMS(college management system) and this is very effectively operational. The department is running Campus connect program by collaborating with INFOSYS.CSE n IT department is also conducting the TGMC program that has been tied up with IBM.

Currently computer science department is enriched with 21 faculties and they not only contribute their knowledge to build a vibrant academics, but also utilise their skills to apply the science of computing to solve real life research problems. The department lays stress on the application based aspects through laboratories, seminars, group discussions, viva-voce and project work, keeping pace with the growth in computer technology. Students are given scope to conduct experiments on innovative ideas.
